Horror tackle ~ Eduardo ~ Birmingham City vs. Arsenal

Postby Jedi Tucker on Sun Feb 24, 2008 11:04 am

FURIOUS Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger called for Birmingham's Martin Taylor to be kicked out of football for this horror tackle which broke Arsenal star Eduardo's leg.

The striker's career hangs in the balance after Taylor made a sickening third-minute lunge which earned him a straight red card in the 2-2 draw at St Andrew's.

And Wenger stormed: "Taylor should never play again. People will say he is not the type of guy who does that. But it is like a guy who kills only once in his life. There is still a dead person."

I saw this yesterday. :( Even the players had to look away from him lying there - it was that bad. :horror: As a trans-Atlantic Arsenal supporter, this didn't amuse me at all. :x
That kind of play is completely inexcusable and unacceptable. :police: :vertag: :protest:

He retracted this statement later, he said those things straight after the game when his emotions was still high.

That's not surprising. I haven't checked the English papers today, but it should be interesting to see what the fallout is.

I can only remember one thing like that happening in the National Football League here, but it was quite a while ago.

I seen a similar tackle like this one, at Man United vs Coventry City game. And he still cant walk properly even though it's 10 years later.

That's the tackle that comes to mind when I think horriffic. I get very squeamish at these kind of things, similar to Jason Kendall's baseball injury a few years back.
Thing is, these injuries aren't life threatening exactly. Anyone who saw Kevin Everett's tackle in game one of this past NFL season knows what life-threatening means. Good to hear he's walking and may fully recover.

(Token Kyle joke to lighten the mood):

I prefer to see women getting hit hard. (Crap, that could be interpreted wrong.)

I like making sliding tackles below the belt on hot chicks.
Sorry. First place is occupied. There's plenty of room in Wild Card for you. ------------------>
